Résumé : Une jeune femme, Cheryl Draper, est témoin d'un meurtre depuis la fenêtre de sa chambre, mais personne ne veut croire en son témoignage. Elle est opposée à un criminel à la voix suave, qui est parvenu à convaincre la police que son témoignage était celui d'une folle. Elle réussit cependant à gagner la confiance d'un policier diplomate.

Résumé : Cheryl Draper exerce le métier de dessinatrice. Une nuit, alors qu'elle peine à trouver le sommeil, elle est témoin d'un meurtre depuis la fenêtre de sa chambre. Dans l'immeuble d'en face, un homme étrangle une jeune femme. Elle avertit aussitôt la police. Mais l'assassin, un écrivain allemand du nom d'Albert Richter réussit à cacher le cadavre et à dissimuler les indices. Cet homme retors à la voix suave, parvient à convaincre la police que Cheryl a commis une erreur : par la suite, il tente même de la faire passer pour folle, afin de s'en débarrasser. Elle réussit cependant à gagner la confiance du lieutenant Larry Matthews, qui tombe amoureux d'elle....

Résumé : It's interesting that both this film and "Rear Window" came out in the same year, since the base plot is identical: person witnessess murder through apartment window in opposing apartment and spends rest of movie trying to convince everone else what they saw. While the Hitchcock movie is more stylish and elaborate, this film definitely keeps your attention. Typical of movies of the 50's, the villain is disposed of in the climax, thereby eliminating any necessity of bringing them to justice. Stanwyck, as usual, gives her best "woman in distress", hysterical performance. \\
